2A vacuum that sucks, but not in a good way  Dec 18, 2009
My wife and I bought this vacuum after reading tons of reviews that raved about it. But, we've only had the vacuum barely two years and it has had multiple problems. To date, the hardwood floor head has a broken lock tab/button (so we either have to baby it or buy a new one), the electric cord no longer retracts, the carpet powerhead doesn't spin any more and we can't seem to figure out why. We've cleaned it and also replaced the belts... so go figure. The unit isn't overly loud and when it was working we were happy enough with its performance. But one thing that started happening shortly after we bought it was that the indicator that tells you when the bag needs changing was not working properly. It usually said the bag needed to be replaced even with a brand new bag. The upshoot of all these problems is that we are now looking for yet another vacuum. Gone are the days when one could buy a Kenmore vac and be confident of having a good 20 or more years of service for your money. Our Kenmore was 35 when we donated it. It still worked, but we could no longer buy replacement parts. We're pretty disgusted with all of them now. Most have far too much plastic and in the wrong parts. A lot of money for products that break down quickly or give lack-luster performance.

3Hoover Wind Tunnel Canister Vac  May 18, 2009
As the owner of a cleaning business, I have sworn by the Hoover Wind Tunnel Canister vacuums for years. I purchased several the last time I bought vacuums and was immediately disappointed in the quality (or lack thereof). Everything is now plastic. Three of the vacuums' motors burned out within weeks of use. I'm still happy with the suction quality and the overall performance, but the hassle of taking it into the shop for repairs every other week has me wondering if I'll purchase another Hoover in the future. Note to Hoover---we will pay more for quality over cheaply made products.

2I seem to have gotten a lemon  Feb 05, 2009
I bought this vacuum in hopes of using the windtunnel capability on dog hair on one small, oriental rug. The power head kept breaking down the second it hit the rug...no frills on the carpet. Got it "fixed" 4 times and no luck. Hoover has not come through with a replacement piece for the power head, even though I am within the year warranty. Able to use the regular vacuum for the bare floors, which works fine, but does not have the suction of the wind tunnel for that. If you have rugs, it may or may not work.

2Vacuum power only good thing about this machine  Jan 03, 2009
This vacuum has excellent power for cleaning. However, the cord winder broke in less then a year and the nub on the hard floor brush that is used to connect it to the wand broke shortly after that.

1not good with high rugs  Oct 02, 2008
Very very poor vacuum for high rugs... had to replace it with a bissell that did a much better job (still loving the bissell by the way..). after using the hoover twice, it started to lose suction and spit the dust and everything else right back out. was such a pain....
