5One thing to watch for  Aug 30, 2010
I've used a 2150 (10-yr-old precursor) hard, cutting and ripping tens of cords of stove wood. Needed only the odd cleaning and sharpening; piston and cylinder bore still look great; still has original bar & chain.
In spite of all the external plastic pieces, it's proven to be very durable and capable of working all day on a few fillups; possibly the plastic tank helps avoid fuel heating. Relatively low vibration and noise level; hearing protection still advised. The combination of factors (weight, noise, vibration, fuel capacity) enable me to get more cutting done in a day than with its "big brother" 3400.

THE PROBLEM: original pvc fuel line got embrittled and broke into many pieces. Replacement Tygon tubing is readily available- enormously more durable. A bit of a pain to replace. Debris got into carb, such that repair shop finally advised replacing carb. Not necessary, and now I understand diaphragm carbs better. Suggestion: ask a pro what fuel lines are made of; if not Tygon, replace them with Tygon for a couple of bucks and avoid grief.

Overall: inexpensive, surprisingly durable little worker with one reparable flaw. Seems capable of outliving me. This saw appears to be a clone.

1After lengthy launch sequence start = FAIL  Aug 08, 2010
Ok, so I just bought this chainsaw to take care of a pretty massive limb that fell in my yard. I read the instructions, mixed the oil with the gas, and readied myself for the lengthy launch sequence. Everything seemed to be going well, the launch sequenced appeared to work and the saw started, for 10 seconds. Then it stopped and it will not re-start. I waited an hour, went through the launch sequence again and nothing. Failed to start. I'll try again in another hour, if it's not raining. But for now a big fat 1 star. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.

5Perfectly pleased!  Jul 07, 2010
This is my fifth chainsaw and has immediately become my favorite. The 16" bar is less than half the length of the bar of chainsaw #4, a Stihl 650. But unless I'm cutting down forest giants, I prefer to use the Poulan P3416. It cuts surprisingly fast, it weighs a whole lot less than the 650, it has excellent fuel capacity, and it is very sturdy. It's also the least noisy of all my saws, due in part to the fact that the exhaust exits the front of the saw.

Six pick-up loads of firewood later it's still cutting like a champ without so much as a touch-up to the chain. (I should mention that the auto-oiler works very well, yet bar oil doesn't leak all over the place like it does with the Stihl.) I highly recommend this saw. At this price, buy two! I rather think I will.

5GREAT chain saw!!!  Jun 14, 2010
I'm a 65-year-old woman, with some but not a lot of chainsaw experience previously. But I need to trim my trees and cut logs to size for my fireplace. This baby is excellent! I am able to handle it safely and with confidence, it starts every time if you follow the instructions properly, and it cuts my wood, including ohia logs (among the world's hardest woods) as much as 6-8 inches in diameter! (Really appreciated the logging tips included in the chain saw's operation booklet!) And Amazon got it to me with FREE shipping within days (less than a week) which is pret-tee good when you realize I live on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!!!

3Poulan P3416 16" chain saw  May 07, 2010
Saw will not start unless you follow directions exactly. Cuts wood fine. Good saw for the money.
